A member of Fredonia State's highly successful men's track and field program, Steve Hoyser was a six-time All SUNYAC as well as a six-time New York State Track & Field Association champion. A two-time All American in the pole vault, Mr. Hoyser was the first Fredonian ever to earn All-America honors in that event. The first vaulter at Fredonia State ever to clear 15 feet, his record of 15 feet, 5 inches stood at the time of his induction. In 1987, Mr. Hoyser took first place and was crowned national champion in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field championship meet at the University of Chicago. He graduated in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and was working as a regional sales manager for the Campbell Soup Company in Penfield, N.Y., at the time of his induction.
