The following description appeared in the Hall of Fame program at the time of induction:

Jim Pinti is Fredonia State's all-time scoring leader among defensemen and the hockey program's first First Team All American. He accumulated 116 points in four years, seventh most by a Fredonia State player. His scoring total includes 93 assists, fourth all-time among all Blue Devils. He earned his All American honor following the 1993-94 season. That was the same season he was chosen SUNYAC Player of the Year. It was also the season the Blue Devils won their first of two straight SUNYAC championships.

Pinti's senior season saw the Blue Devils finish third at the NCAA Division III Final Four in Superior, Wis. The team produced a No 1 ranking in the NCAA East poll during the regular season and finished 29-1-4 overall. A Blue Devil captain in both his junior and senior years, Pinti was part of other successful Fredonia State teams. The 1991-92 squad earned the school's first ECAC playoff berth and won the school's first SUNYAC Tournament game. Pinti was a SUNYAC First Team selection three times and a Second Team selection once (his freshman year). He was also chosen First Team All ECAC West after the 1991-92 campaign.

A Business major at Fredonia State, Pinti is an award-winning account executive for GreenPoint Mortgage and resides with his wife, Andrea (Woods), a 1995 Fredonia State graduate, in Gilbert, Ariz. They have a 16-month-old daughter, Abbie Grace.
