Neil Postman was a member of the Inaugural Class inducted into the Fredonia State Athletics Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held Sat., Sept. 27, 1986, at the Topiary Tree in the Campus Center.

Although he played men's basketball for less than three full seasons, Mr. Postman held school records for most field goals in a game, season, and career; most free throws made in a game, season and career; and most points in a game, season, and career at the time of his graduation. He scored over 30 points in five occasions and scored double figures in 44 of 46 games in which he competed. His record of 42 points in one game stood for over 30 years. At the time of his induction, he held the school record for most field goals in a game (19).

Mr. Postman graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and later earned master's and doctorate degrees in Education from Columbia University. He worked as a teacher and lecturer at New York University and became an acclaimed author, educator, media theorist, and cultural critic.
