A professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Athletics and Dance for 22 years, Elizabeth Darling held a number of coaching and administrative positions during her tenure at Fredonia State. As the varsity volleyball, bowling and field hockey coach, she fielded teams that were extremely competitive and well-organized. For 19 of her 22 years at Fredonia, Ms. Darling served as either director of women's athletics or as athletic director of both men's and women's programs. She was serving as an administrator and coach at Fredonia State at the time of his induction. Active in numerous professional organizations, she held office in the New York State Association of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, and the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, among others. In 1979, she received the NYSAIAW Service Award. She assisted in organizing the group in 1969 and served as NYSAIAW president in 1983-84. She graduated from Ithaca College in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and was inducted in the Ithaca College Sports Hall of Fame in 1984. He added a master's degree from Temple University in 1962.
