One of the finest distance runners ever to compete at Fredonia State, Bernard Prabucki was a champion at the state, regional, and national level. A four-time All-America, he twice finished among the nation's elite at the NCAA Division III Cross Country finals. In 1981, he was the NCAA regional meet winner and was the top runner on Fredonia State's most successful cross country team, which finished third in the nation that year. A two-time track and field All-American in the 5,000-meter run, Mr. Prabucki was crowned national champion at the 1982 outdoor NCAA Track & Field meet. During his illustrious career, he was a six-time NYSCT&FA champion and a four-time SUNYAC champion. Nine years after his graduation in 1983, Mr. Prabucki still held school records in the 5,000 and 10,000 meter runs as well as the Fredonia State cross country course record. A member of the SUNYAC Hall of Fame in cross country, Mr. Prabucki was awarded the Joseph N. Keyser Senior Student-Athlete of the Year Award in 1983. In addition to a bachelor's degree from Fredonia State in Economics/Finance, Mr. Prabucki added a master's degree in Tax Law and Accounting from the University of North Carolina in 1989. At the time of his induction in 1992, he was working as a certified public accountant for Deloitte and Touche in Raleigh, N.C.
