1977 Mens Track & Field / Team of Distinction

The 1976-77 Men's Track & Field Team won the New York State Track & Field Indoor Championship after finishing 10th the year before. It was the Blue Devils' first state-meet title and the start of a historic era of success. Coached by Jim Ulrich, the Blue Devils followed up their state title with its first conference title at the 1977 SUNYAC Outdoor Championship meet.

The Blue Devils would not be knocked off the championship podium for the next 19 years, a streak which ran through the 1996 meet. The 20 straight SUNYAC championships is the longest winning streak by a SUNYAC school in any sport and is among the longest all-sport conference championship win streaks in NCAA history.

Four members of the 1976-77 team are members of the Fredonia Athletics Hall of Fame: Coach Ulrich, Assistant Coach Dr. Everett Phillips, Keith McFayden, and Fred Ruterbusch.
