The following information was taken from the Hall of Fame program published at the time of induction. Some editing was required:

One of the most talented two-sport athletes ever to play at Fredonia State, Frederick Thompson excelled in both men's basketball and track & field. A three-year starter and four-year letterman at the shooting guard position, Mr. Thompson was known for his ability to stick the jump shot or drive to the basket. His aggressive defensive play coupled with his great athletic ability led to numerous fast-break opportunities for the high-scoring Blue Devils. Ranked among Fredonia State's Top 20 career scoring at the time of his induction (15th with 861 points), he also held several school records for assists, including 133 in one season, which ranked fifth in school history. He also was a starter on Fredonia State's 1985 ECAC Upstate New York championship team. As a sprinter on the men's track & field team, Mr. Thompson was a two-time All-America and quite possibly the best quarter-miler ever to run at Fredonia State. His 48.26 in the 400 meter still stood 11 years later as a school record. He was the 1984 SUNYAC champion in the 400 and was part of the 1,600-meter relay team that held the school record (3:13.85). As an anchor on the relay, Mr. Thompson ran 47-seconds flat, the fastest split ever recorded at Fredonia State. The relay also won the 1984 New York State championship. Mr. Thompson graduated in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and was working as a professional sales representative with Bristol-Myers in Amityville, N.Y., at the time of his induction.
