A 1983 cum laude graduate with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Norman Sweet was a two-time captain of the Fredonia State men's basketball team. A prolific scorer from his point guard position, Mr. Sweet hit double figures 46 times and led the team in scoring 17 times. As a three-year starter, he consistently managed to play his best games against Fredonia State's best opponents. His 21 points and seven assists, for example, helped the Blue Devils defeat perennial power and conference rival Buffalo State. He was named to the all-tournament team at Binghamton. With 871 points and 340 assists, Mr. Sweet ranked among Fredonia State's all-time scoring and assist leaders at the time of his induction. At the conclusion of the 1981-82 basketball season, he was named the Gerry Chesin Award winner as his team's most valuable player. At the time of his induction, he was working as a computer systems analyst at General Electric Transportation Systems in Erie, Pa.
