Gabby Irwin and Tomas Thordarson were selected as this week's Fredonia State Female and Male Athlete of the Week award winners.

Irwin, a junior midfielder from Clarence Center, N.Y., put together an outstanding couple of games when the women's soccer team traveled to California over the weekend. She had a solid game on Friday at Cal Lutheran, then scored a goal and was instrumental in another in the Devils' 3-2 loss at Occidental.

Thordarson, a freshman midfielder from Mosfellsbær, Iceland, scored and had an assist in a 3-3 tie vs. New Jersey City University on Saturday.

- Lucy Prevet of the women's tennis team won her No. 1 singles match vs. Brockport in the season opener this past Saturday.
