BUFFALO, N.Y. -- After taking a 2-0 lead, the Fredonia State men's soccer team surrendered three-straight unanswered goals, before coming back to tie the game in a 3-3 draw vs. New Jersey City College in a game played at Buffalo State on Saturday.
Blue Devil freshman Tomas Berg Thordarson scored at the 78-minute mark to give the Blue Devils the tie.
Dylan McAfee assisted.
The Devils got on the board first with a goal from
Chance LaCroix in the 18th minute.
Sam Evans assisted.
They doubled their lead five minutes later when
Liam Winters scored on with help from Thordarson.
New Jersey City got its first goal with 4:17 remaining in the first half. JP Crespo scored with an assist from Kenneth Valladares.It was the only shot on goal for NJC in the first half. Fredonia State had six shots on goal in the frame.
Crespo would strike again to tie the game a 2-2 with an unassisted goal just over 12 minutes into the second half.
Erick Larrahondo's goal gave NJC its first lead of the game, before Thordarson tied things up to give the final.
Thomas McDonald made two saves in goal for the Blue Devils. Camilo Pascual Verdu had 11 saves for Jersey City. The Devils finished with a 14-5 edge in shots on goal and a 16-9 edge in shots. Both teams now have 0-1-1 records.
Next up for the Devils is their home opener at 4 p.m. on Tuesday vs. Geneseo.
