FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Freddy Butler scored a pair of goals for the Fredonia State men's soccer team in a 3-1 win over Alfred University on Friday evening. Butler connected in the 50th minute to put the Devils up 2-0 at the time, and effectively ended the game with a score in the 87th minute.

Chance LaCroix got the Devils on the board first with a penalty kick in the 39th minute.
Four minutes into the second half, Butler scored on a breakaway, beating the goalie and one defender. LaCroix provided the lead pass.
Alfred scored its goal when the Devils passed the ball back twice, the second reverse pass going to the goaltender,
Thomas McDonald. The Saxon's Dennis Hayes hustled down the field and blocked the Devil netminder's hurried attempt to clear the ball, then tapped the ball into an open net.
McDonald finished the day with five saves. Tyler Mullholland had two saves for Alfred.
The Devils take on Bryant & Stratton on Saturday at 3:00 at University Stadium. Alfred will take on Buffalo State at the same time on the turf filed. Buffalo State was 6-0 winners over Bryant & Stratton earlier in the day.
