HARRISBURG, Penn. -- The Fredonia State men's soccer team fell 1-0 in its season-opening game at Penn State Harrisburg on Friday afternoon. There were only 10 shots on goal combined, with Harrisburg collecting nine.
Blue Devil goalie
Thomas McDonald was credited with eight saves, while allowing the one score.
Lee Hartke had two of the Devils' five shots, including the team's only shot on goal.
Harrisburg is coming off a 14-4-3 season that saw its season end in the United East title game on penalty kicks after playing to a 1-1 tie. Their goal came off the foot of Ricardo Bustamante in the 33rd minute of the first half. Aidan McWilliams assisted.
"Tough result to open the season," said head coach
P.J. Gondek. "We battled hard and defended well but we have to be more creative and show more composure in attack. This has to start tomorrow."
Next up for the Devils is a match on Saturday vs. New Jersey City College. The game will take place at a neutral site on the campus of Buffalo State.
