NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Five individuals and a men's relay team competed on Day 1 of the AARTFC Regional Meet in New York City on Friday.
The women's pole vaulters kicked things off at high noon. Senior and four-time SUNYAC Champ
Cara Pellechia set a new personal best at 3.72m, which placed her fifth overall. Talia Hutchinson of Ithaca had the top height at 3.92m. The Devils'
Emily Cardinale cleared 3.12m before missing her next three attempts at 3.27m.
Jacob Futch cleared 4.48m before getting over the 4.63m bar to finish 11th of 27 vaulters. His height was a personal best. Mitch Davis of Ursinus cleared 4.98m for the top spot.
In the 60m prelims,
Jordan Lockett ran a 7.06, which put him in 26th place and out of contention for Saturday's finals. The top time was 6.85s, and he would have needed to run 6.92 to qualify for the finals. Lockett will compete in two events on Saturday -- the 200m dash and the 4x200 relay.
Stephen Hallberg placed 21st in the 5000m run in a time of 16:35.25. The winning time was 14:52.90.
The 4x400 relay team finished ninth out of 22 teams competing.
