FREDOINIA, N.Y. -- Freshman track sensation Yauvauni Liddelow and senior goaltender
Charles-Anthony Barbeau were named the Fredonia State Female and Male Athletes of the Week.
Liddelow leaped 37-3.24 in the triple jump, which placed her second in a field of 32 competitors in Staten Island on Saturday. She also has the top distance in the SUNYAC this season and ranks in the Top 30 nationally.
Barbeau had a very busy weekend doing some extra work as both hockey games went into overtime. He made 97 saves with a .942 save percentage. Unfortunately, the Devils were not able to convert his efforts into a win. Barbeau made 48 save in a 2-1 loss at Skidmore, then 49 in a 4-3 loss at Plattsburgh. Barbeau leads the SUNYAC with 622 saves, which is 99 more than the next closest. His .915 save percentage for the season is currently sixth in the conference.
Notables:
Talon Rowland - Named SUNYAC Track Athlete of the Week after his performance in the 400m dash. Rowland ran a 49.08 at the Ocean Breeze Meet in Staten Island, placing him second out of 131 sprinters, and also put him at No. 2 on Fredonia State's all-time list.
Emily Cardinale - Her distance of 15-1.1 in the long jump was ninth overall in a group 28 jumpers.
Alexi Sheen - Added a third Top 10 for the team with her 10th-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.93 seconds.
Stevie Williams - Averaged 12.0 ppg in two games for men's basketball
Payton Gilbert - Had 31 points and 18 rebounds in two games for women's basketball. That's 15.5 ppg and 9.0 rpg.
