Joe Tobia went 6 2/3 innings allowing just one hit in the Devils' 8-3 win over Dean College on Saturday. Tobia allowed two runs -- both unearned on bases loaded walks following an error -- and struck out six.
Owen Ludwig came in with the bases loaded and two out to get out of the jam and finish the game. He was credited with a save.
Nursing a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth, the Devils broke it open when
Christian Pagano ripped a three-run homerun to centerfield.
Ethan Behnke followed that with a solo shot to up the lead to 7-0.
Ludwig went 2 1/3 innings and gave up one run, striking out one.
Pagano also led the team with three hits.
Garrett Stuckey added a double and
Tucker Schwab and Behnke had two RBI apiece. The Devils also stole five bases.
The Devils improve to 2-1, and Dean is now 0-1.
Tomorrow's game time and location have been changed due to wet conditions. The Devils are now slated to play at Grand Park Field #3 at 2 p.m. Grand Park boasts turf fields, so playable conditions are anticipated.
