KISSIMMEE, FLA -- The Fredonia baseball team got behind early, clawed back into the game, but ended up on the short side of a 7-6 extra-inning loss to Illinois College on Friday.
I.C. scored a run in the first and four in the second.
The Devils got a run in the third on an RBI single by
Kevin Yirinec. Two more runs came home in the third.
D.J. Schiersing singled home
Nick Ciraolo, and
Kole Brink doubled in Schiersing.
IC added a run in the sixth to go up 6-3. Fredonia caught a break when the left fielder muffed a fly ball, plating two unearned runs in the eighth.
Fredonia tied it in the ninth when Billy Clifford's sacrifice fly plated
Tyler Phillips.
An RBI double in the bottom of the tenth proved to be the game winner for IC.
Fredonia used eight different pitchers in what was a tuneup for Saturday's SUNYAC doubleheader. Chris Kuchta, Kenny Jaroszek, and
Billy Sanborn each tossed scoreless innings.
Ryan Hann threw a scoreless eighth and ninth to keep the Devils in the game. Hann added a base hit and stolen base offensively. Kenny Ynoa took the loss.
