BOXSCORE ERIE, Pa. -- Fredonia's non-conference success continued Wednesday with an 8-2 win over Penn State Behrend, the first of two games for the Interstate 90 Cup.

The Blue Devils (16-12), winners of five straight non-conference games, built its lead before rain stopped the game in the eighth inning. All statistics reverted back to seven full innings.

Ben Atkinson (Syracuse, N.Y.), the Fredonia starting pitcher, gave up both Behrend runs on six hits over six innings. Luke Kuczewski (Orchard Park, N.Y.) relieved and pitched one scoreless inning.

The Blue Devils took command with four runs in the second inning, including a two-run triple by Joshua Crocetti (Rochester, N.Y.). They added a run in the fourth on back-to-back doubles by James Krolikowski (Lancaster, N.Y.) and Jon Morrison (Macedon, N.Y.), and three more runs in the fifth on a two-run double by Joseph Coene (Webster, N.Y.) and an RBI double by Krolikowski, who finished 3 for 3.

The teams meet again next Monday at Ludwig Field. Before that, the Blue Devils return to SUNYAC competition with a three-game series at home with Brockport -- a single game Friday and a doubleheader Saturday.
