BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Fredonia State sent out three runners Saturday in the women's 5K at the Brockport Tom Balon Alumni Classic, led by sophomore Calie Hudson, who finished 28th in 21:24.9. Hudson was the top Blue Devil in the season opener and set the tone for the small Fredonia contingent.

Sophomore Emily Frank followed in 35th, running 21:44.7 as Fredonia State's second finisher. Siera Shenoy, also a sophomore, completed the Blue Devil trio with a 60th‑place finish in 22:57.8. There were 104 runners overall led by a winning time of 18:57.5 .

The meet was held at Sweden Town Park, also the site of the men's race which started at noon.

Head Coach Tom Wilson's take: "It was not what we were hoping for overall. It's still very early in our training. The course conditions were tough, not an excuse, just facts. The women were strong, and the men had some high points ... There's still lots of work ahead for this team."
