HENRIETTA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State earned a hard‑fought 1–1 draw on the road Friday night, using a strong second‑half push to erase RIT's first‑half advantage.
The Tigers struck first in the 22nd minute, converting a penalty through Gavin Culley to take a 1–0 lead into halftime. Fredonia State generated early free kicks and two first‑half shots from Carson Teijeira, but much of the opening period tilted toward the defensive third as RIT produced the half's lone corner and forced multiple goal kicks.
The Blue Devils controlled long stretches of the second half and were rewarded in the 81st minute when Teijeira buried a penalty kick to level the match. Fredonia State continued pressing late, generating corners at 85:40 and 88:00 and producing dangerous looks from Sam Evans and Ryan Ameis as RIT dropped deeper to protect the tie.
Defensively, Joseph Roeper anchored the back line with a full 90‑minute effort and three saves, with Liam Booth, Harrison McAneny, Ameis, and Dylan McAfee all logging heavy minutes as Fredonia closed out the draw.
Teijeira finished with a team‑high four shots and two on goal, while Evans and McAneny each added efforts to keep pressure on the Tigers. Roeper's three‑save line and the group's second‑half surge earned Fredonia a deserved point, reflecting a disciplined defensive effort and a composed response after falling behind early.
