FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Fredonia State men's soccer team settled for a 1-1 draw with non-conference opponent Houghton Wednesday night after the visitors found a late equalizer at University Stadium.
The Blue Devils struck first in the ninth minute when Harrison McAneny scored with an assist from Ryan Ameis.
Fredonia State carried that lead for more than 80 minutes behind a strong defensive effort and four saves from goalkeeper Thomas McDonald. McDonald turned away three shots in the opening half and added another save after intermission to help preserve the Blue Devil advantage.
The Blue Devils generated 11 shots and earned seven corner kicks in the contest.
Houghton finally broke through with just 3:30 remaining in regulation when Daniel Da Costa finished a scoring chance off an assist from Nata Souza.
