MEADVILLE, Pa. — The Fredonia State volleyball team finished the Allegheny Invitational with a 1-2 record, rebounding from an opening-day loss with a win over Houghton before closing the weekend against Adrian. Kylie O'Brien led the Blue Devils throughout the tournament with 39 kills, while Maeve Musielak contributed 34 kills and 46 digs. Daniella Chamberlain anchored the defense with 48 digs, and Molly Cassidy directed the offense with 56 assists.
Allegheny 3, Fredonia State 1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-23)
Fredonia opened the tournament by taking the first set before Allegheny rallied to claim the next three. O'Brien paced the Blue Devils with 15 kills and a .308 hitting percentage, while Bria Hunter added seven kills and three blocks. Musielak finished with five kills, 15 digs, and three service aces, and Chamberlain recorded 17 digs. Cassidy handed out 14 assists, Olivia Boswell added eight assists and two aces, and Donnilynn Sheldon contributed four kills and five total blocks.
Fredonia State 3, Houghton 1 (28-26, 22-25, 26-24, 26-24)
The Blue Devils bounced back with a hard-fought four-set victory Friday evening. O'Brien again led the offense with 13 kills, while Musielak added nine kills and 21 digs. Chamberlain posted a match-high 27 digs and added two service aces. Cassidy totaled 19 assists, 15 digs, and two aces, while Payton Stoddard contributed 19 assists. Megan Nottis sparked the victory with five service aces, and Sheldon finished with seven kills, six blocks, and two aces as Fredonia secured a pair of 26-24 wins to close out the match.
Adrian 3, Fredonia State 1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-14, 25-14)
Fredonia split the opening two sets before Adrian pulled away over the final two frames. O'Brien recorded 11 kills and Musielak added 10. Bella Maloney contributed eight kills, while Cassidy posted 23 assists and 14 digs. Sasha Zayatz paced the defense with 22 digs and added two service aces. Boswell contributed 11 assists, and Cayla Partsch chipped in four kills and four total blocks. Adrian used 15 service aces and 11 team blocks to secure the victory.
