FREDONIA, N.Y. — Sam Evans scored his first goal of the season as the Fredonia State men's soccer team tied Heidelberg 1-1 Friday evening during the Blue Devil Classic at University Stadium.
Fredonia broke through in the 32nd minute when Evans finished a scoring chance off assists from Dylan McAfee and Carson Teijeira. The goal came in the 32nd minute and gave the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Heidelberg found the equalizer shortly after the break. Greg Sisamis scored in the 48th minute, tying the contest at 1-1 just 2:09 into the second half.
Fredonia unleashed 17 second-half shots and attempted all three of its corner kicks after intermission, finishing with a 24-8 edge in total shots. Fredonia State had eight shots on goal to Heidelberg's four.
Thomas McDonald made three saves for the Blue Devils.
Fredonia State will play again Saturday when it hosts Bryant and Stratton at 3 p.m. at University Stadium. Buffalo State won 3-0 against Bryant and Stratton in the opening game of men's action Friday.
