FREDONIA, N.Y. — Fredonia opened Tuesday's doubleheader with an 11–0, five‑inning win behind a one‑hit shutout from Kendall Phillips, then fell 4–1 in the nightcap as Hilbert capitalized on a four‑run second inning at Blue Devil Field.
In the opener, Fredonia scored in each of its four at‑bats and finished with nine hits. Alexa Bogad's two‑run double jump‑started a three‑run first inning, and Chloe Whittingham added a sacrifice fly.
The Blue Devils added three more in the second on RBI from Mia Eickhoff, Madison DeVore, and Kayla Lynn, then pushed across four in the third. Kim Dorane drove in two with a single, DeVore added another RBI, and Lynn singled in a run. Avery Hill homered to left in the fourth to close the scoring.
DeVore went 3‑for‑3 with two RBI and two runs. Bogad, Lynn, and Dorane each drove in two.
Phillips (7–8) struck out nine and allowed only one hit while facing 19 batters.
In game two, Hilbert scored all four of its runs in the second inning, using two hits, two errors, and a walk to build the lead. Only one of the four runs was earned.
Fredonia's run came in the fifth when Angelique Palacio was hit by a pitch, Kate Kenny bunted for a single, and Arianna Lerouzes lifted a sacrifice fly to center. Palacio also tripled in the second.
Cayzlee Johnson (0–1) threw a complete game, allowing three hits and one earned run with two walks and one strikeout.
