MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — Fredonia State put together one of its most complete days of the season Friday, rolling to a 10–1 win in Game 1 before grinding out a 6–4 extra‑inning victory in Game 2 to sweep Morrisville State. The Blue Devils moved to 13–19 overall, 7–5 SUNYAC with the pair of road wins.
Fredonia controlled Game 1 from the opening inning -- three runs in the first, highlighted by
Avery Hill's two‑run homer, set the tone. The Blue Devils added two more in the second on
Alexa Bogad's two‑run single, then broke the game open in the fifth when Hill homered again and
Kim Dorane drove in another run with a double. Fredonia reached double digits with two unearned runs late.
Hill finished the opener with two home runs and three RBI, Bogad added three RBI, and
Mia Eickhoff scored twice with two steals.
Kendall Phillips was dominant in the circle, allowing just two hits and one run with nine strikeouts in a complete‑game win.
Game 2 demanded more late‑inning toughness. Fredonia led 2–0 into the seventh before Morrisville rallied to tie it, pushing the contest into extras. The Blue Devils answered with a four‑run eighth, capitalizing on a walk, a hit‑by‑pitch, and a single to load the bases before two runs scored on an error to break the tie. Kayla Lynn followed with a two‑run single, with an additional run scoring on an error to extend the lead.
Morrisville scored twice in the bottom half, but
Phoenix Thomas entered and recorded the final out for the save. Sabrina Edwards‑Smith earned the win with 7.2 innings, allowing four runs while striking out five.
Lynn delivered a standout performance across both games -- five hits, four stolen bases, and four RBI on the day. Bogad finished with four hits, Hill totaled three, and Dorane drove in four runs across the doubleheader.
Fredonia returns to SUNYAC action with a doubleheader Saturday at Cortland.
