ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia State was swept Sunday afternoon at Southside Field, falling 13–5 in the opener and 8–3 in the late game. Rochester used two decisive mid‑game surges — a five‑run third in Game 1 and a five‑run fourth in Game 2 — to take control of both non-conference games.
In the opener, the Blue Devils finished with 11 hits and pushed across five runs. Madison DeVore doubled and scored on a Madison Lowe RBI single in the third. A three‑run fifth tightened the game to 5–4: Kim Dorane scored on a throwing error, Lowe delivered a sacrifice fly to bring home DeVore, and Avery Hill followed with an RBI single to plate Kayla Jo Lynn. Fredonia added one more in the sixth when Mia Eickhoff scored on Lynn's sacrifice fly, but Rochester answered with a seven‑run bottom half to close out the game via the mercy rule.
Game 2 saw the Yellowjackets build a 6–0 lead through four innings before Fredonia broke through late. Lowe put the Devils on the board with a two‑run homer in the sixth, scoring DeVore after she reached on an error. DeVore added a solo shot in the seventh to cap the scoring. Alexa Bogad supplied extra‑base pop with a triple and a double.
Rochester totaled 28 hits across the two games and scored in eight of twelve offensive innings, while Fredonia moved to 4–12 overall heading into their first SUNYAC weekend of the season -- doubleheaders Friday and Saturday at New Paltz and at Oneonta, respectively.
