FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The track & field teams earned both the Male and Female Fredonia State Athletes of the Week Awards this past week --
Cam Sample for the men, and
Emma Gassman for the women.
Sample recorded a distance of 7.23m in the long jump, which placed him second all time in school history, and ranks him 12th in Division III this year. Last year, he reached All American status during the outdoor season.
Emma Gassman turned in a time of 26.54 seconds in the indoor 200m giving her a third-place finish. It also moves her to fifth all-time in the school's history.

Jacob Futch cleared 4.47m in the pole vault on Friday, which moves him to eighth in school history and ranks him No. 1 in the SUNYAC for the indoor season with the Championship Meet comin up this weeked.
With the close of the winter seasons, here are some accomplishments of note:
- Leah Marsh will be competing in the Regional Diving Meet after finishing third at SUNYACs.
- Charles-Anthony Barbeau, the hockey team's goalie, led the SUNYAC with 749 saves, 117 more than the next goalie.
- Martin Garza of the men's basketball team led the SUNYAC in three pointers with 63. He was fourth in scoring at 16.3 ppg.
- Payton Gilbert of the women's basketball team led the SUNYAC in field-goal percentage at 53 percent (134-253, 12.7 ppg).
- Grace Alexander ranked second in the SUNYAC with 53 three-point buckets. She now has 909 points heading into her senior season.
