FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Buffalo State Bengals took down the Fredonia State men's basketball team, 70-52, on Friday evening. The Bengals led wire-to-wire in earning points in the annual
Battle by the Lake competition between the two athletic departments. The Devils bright spot was

The Benglas biggest lead of the first half came with one minute left. Skvorc nailed a three to make it a 13-point lead at 35-22.Garza returned fire with a three of his own to make it a 35-25 game at the half.
A basket and free throw by Garza to start the second half cut the lead to seven. Unfortunately for the Devils, that's as close as they would get as the Bengals would go on to outscore the Devils, 35-27, in the second half.
Fredonia State outrebounded the Bengals, 37-24. They went 6-16 from beyond the arc, with Garza connecting three times.
With the win, Buffalo State is now up, 7-6, in the all-sports competition. Earlier in the day, the women's team had tied things at 6-6 with a 72-58 win over the Bengals. The Devils are currently in possession of the trophy after winning last year, 17-11.
