FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Despite a near-triple-double from
Ethan Sokolowski, the Fredonia State men's basketball team would take a loss at the hands of Morrisville, 83-75, on Tuesday evening. Sokolowski would finish with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. He was aided by
Stevie Williams with 15 points, and
Martin Garza with 13.
The Devils would maintain a 39-35 lead at the end of the first half. Williams would have 11 at the break and Sokolowski 10 points.
The Devils would lead by as many as 10 points in the second half.
Martin Garza nailed a three pointer to Fredonia State up 47-37 at the 17:18 mark.
Just before the midway point of the second half, the Mustangs would claw their way back into the game and tie things at 52. Morrisville would then go on to score the next 15 points and go up 67-52.
The Devils' final push saw them cut the lead to five points with 30 seconds remaining following a layup by
Dexter Brooks before the Mustangs finished them off.
Morrisville (6-11 / 5-5 SUNYAC) was led by Jalyn Moorhead with 15 points and Kaelem Haskns with 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Devils (2-15 / 2-8 SUNYAC) will head to Buffalo State on Friday. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. following the women's game.
