Jacob Opare lofted a shot from the right elbow that bounced around the rim several times before falling through for the 51-50 Buff State win.
Stevie Williams led the Devils with 12 points
Kofo Laditan had eight points and seven rebounds.
The Bengals led most of the second half. They were up by as much as 14 points, 41-27, at the midpoint of the frame. Fredonia State got back into the game on an 11-1 run to make it a four-point game, 42-48.
The Devils would tie the game at 46-all, then their first lead came in the closing seconds when Chris Williams converted his layup, setting the scene for Opare's heroics.
Buff State (7-11 / 3-8 SUNYAC) was led by Oryan DeJesus with 14 points. Brendyn Cheng and Zee Johnson both finished with nine points.
