FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team fell 62-54 to Canton on Friday evening.
Jayssa Snelick put in a solid performance with 12 points and 11 rebounds. She was backed by
Grace Alexander with 15 points and three steals, and
Aliyah Hopkins added nine points and 11 rebounds.
The two squads played an even first quarter with the game knotted at 19-all after one. Canton jumped out to a 12-5 lead, before the Devils had a nifty 10-2 run to take the lead, 15-14. Canton's Katie Granger nailed a three pointer to close the first quarter and tie the game at 19.
The Devils took control early in the second. Following a three pointer by
Ashley Kalvitis, they would go up 32-28.
The Roos responded scoring the final 12 points of the half and the the first four points of the third quarter to complete a 16-0 run and take a 44-32 lead. Canton would hold the lead for the rest of the game.
The Roos (13-3 / 5-4 SUNYAC) were led by Kat McRobbie-Taru with 20 points. Hope Aniceto added 14, and Granger had a team-high 11 rebounds.
The Devils (9-6 / 4-4 SUNYAC) are back home on Saturday with a 2 p.m. tipoff vs. Oswego. The men will follow at 4 p.m
