FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A three pointer by
Grace Alexander with 3:21 remaining in the game gave the Devils the lead, and they would hang on for a 70-67 win over Oswego on Saturday. Alexander would finish with eight points and five assists.
Jayssa Snelick led the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds for her third-straight double-double and fifth overall.
Aliyah Hopkins had 14 points and eight rebounds, and
Payton Gilbert added 12 points.
Things started well for the Lakers, as they took a 20-10 lead after one quarter of play.
The Devils began to whittle away at the lead and cut it to five points by halftime, 34-29. Fredonia State would not regain the lead until
Jakiera Stackhouse made a layup to put the Devils up 50-49 early in the fourth.
After several lead changes, Alexander put the Devils up for good with her three pointer.
Oswego (7-9 / 5-5 SUNYAC) was led by Giavanna White-Principio and Bri Weaver with 23 points apiece. White-Principia added 14 boards.
Both Snelick for Fredonia State and Weaver for Oswego nailed five threes apiece.
Next up for the Devils (10-6 / 5-4 SUNYAC) is a Tuesday home contest vs. Morrisville.
