FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team was picked to finish sixth in a poll of conference coaches. Last season, they finished tied with Plattsburgh for fifth place, one spot ahead of Canton. This season, Cortland is picked to finish in the top spot.
This will be the first season under first-year head coach, Frank Jagoda. Jagoda is no stranger to the head spot, having had stops as the top dog at Patrick Henry Community College, as well as being on the staffs at Canisius, Wingate, and Jamestown Community College. He had also coached the local Jamestown Tarp Skunks of the Perfect Game Collegiate League, and had stints with USA Baseball and the Minnesota Twins organization.
The Devils are scheduled to open the season on Feb. 25th at Allegheny College.
