Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Lakers hang on for win over Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State hockey team scored with 3:53 left in to make it a 3-2 game, but could not squeeze out another score, falling to Oswego on Saturday evening. Josh Serino scored with an assist from Owen Cross to narrow the margin, and the Devils would later pull the goalie, but could not beat the Laker defense.

The Lakers got on the board quickly, with Matt McQuade scoring at the 2:18 mark of the first. Fredonia State's Hudson Cameron would tie it up at 9:06 with an apple from Antoine St. Onge.

The second period saw Oswego connect on a short-handed score, then a power play. Travis Baker scored both goals.

Serino would make it a one-goal game in the third to cap the scoring.

Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 28 saves for Fredonia State. Oswego's Brandon Milburg made 23 stops. The Lakers improve to 11-2-1 overall and 8-1 SUNYAC with their fifth-straight win.

The Devils (1-12-1, 1-7-1 SUNYAC) are back in Steele Hall on Tuesday when they take on Brockport in a non-conference tilt. Gametime is slated for 7 p.m.
