FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Hobart Statesmen came to town ranked No. 1 in the country, and showed why, beating Fredonia State, 7-0, on Friday. The Statesmen got two goals each from Tanner Daniels and Chris Duclair, along with shutout goaltending from Connor Shibley, who made 18 saves.
Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 38 saves in goal for the Blue Devils (1-11-1 / 1-5-1 SUNYAC), and
Jameson Kaine finished the final 10:29 making eight saves.
Hobart (15-0 / 8-0 ) got things rolling with the first goal of the game by Duclair at 6:27 into the first. By the end of the period, they held a 3-0 lead. They would get two goals in both the second and third periods, two of which came via the power play.
Fredonia State was 0-1 on power plays, and Hobart was 2-3 on man-advantage opportunities.
The Devils are back home on Saturday, with a 4 p.m. puck drop vs. Oswego.
