FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's soccer team took down Nazareth, 2-1, on Tuesday evening.
Makayla Stainbrook and
Bronwyn Madden scored for the Devils as they improved to 4-4-3.
Madden scored thirty seconds into the game on an assist from
Gabby Irwin.
Four minutes prior to the half, Nazareth tied the game 1-1 when Emily Nickson connected from an assist from Giuliana Rodriguez.
The Devils would squeeze in one more goal before the break.
Anna Ratchuk was taken down from behind just inside the goal box. Stainbrook then connected on a penalty kick.
Neither team would score in the second half. Fredonia State goaltender
Casey Fetzner made five saves in earning the win. Katriana Walls had four saves and gave up a pair of scores for Naz.
For the game, the Flyers (4-3-2) outshot the Devils 18-11. Both teams had six shots on goal.
The Devils play host o New Paltz at Univesity Stadium at 1:00 on Saturday.
