CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team dropped a pair of games against perennial SUNYAC power Cortland on Friday. The Red Dragons pick up wins with scores of 10-0 and 10-2.
Game 1
Cortland scored eight runs over the first five innings off Fredonia State starting pitcher
Michael Byrns. The big blow was a grand slam off the bat of Marc Stockhausen in the third inning.
The Devils scraped just a pair of hits off Luis Misla, who has already won the SUNYAC Pitcher of the Week award three times this season.
Brady Ventura and
Kyle Tedford had the safeties, and
Cole Schraufstetter reached twice via base on balls and stole a base. Misla finished with 13 strikeouts over six innings of work.
Game 2
The Red Dragons again put up 10 runs. Offensively, the Devils were held to six hits.
Vinny Grazioplene had two hits, and
Tyler Curtis doubled. Curtis and Tedford were credited with an RBI apiece.
Cortland improves to 14-10 and 5-3 in the SUNYAC.
The Devils (8-9/1-5 SUNYAC) are back at it on Monday with a 4 p.m. game at Penn State Behrend where they look to reclaim the I-90 Cup.
