Erie, Pa. -- Fredonia State was unable to overcome a big third inning from Penn State Behrend in a 15–5 non-conference road loss on Wednesday afternoon.
Fredonia State's scoring came early, with three runs in the second inning.
Shane Pray drew a lead off walk and came around to score on a Vinny Graziople double, followed by an RBI single from
Tucker Schwab. A.J. Roach drove in another with a fielder's choice, and Schwab later stole home to make it 3–2 Fredonia State. In the third, Cabrera walked, and Ahlstrom was hit by a pitch. Pray then singled to bring Cabrera home, giving the Devils a 4–2 lead before Penn State Behrend erupted for eight runs in the bottom half.
The Devils final run came in the eighth. Pray again got things started with a walk and advanced on a Schwab double. Bryce Firkins hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Pray.
Behrend's offense was led by Dylan Barnes, who had a pair of triples and four RBIs. The Lions scored in six different innings, including their eight-run third and a pair of insurance runs in the sixth. Behrend starter Evan Bromley (4–1) earned the win, tossing six innings with five hits, four earned runs, and four strikeouts.
