OSWEGO, N.Y. -- After winning the first game of the three-game series on Thursday, the Fredonia State baseball team dropped a doubleheader on Saturday. They struggled to a 20-1 loss in Game 1, before making a game of it in an 8-6 loss in the nightcap.
Game 1
The Devils were limited to six hits, which included doubles by
Alex Ahlstrom and
Shane Pray. The bright spot for the pitchers was 10 combined punchouts between four arms.
Joe Tobia struck out six in 3 1/3 innings of relief.
Game 2
The undoing for the Devils was a six-run third inning where the Devils had seven combined walks and hit by pitches. Outside of that, they got solid efforts all around, with the pitching staff again accounting for 10 strikeouts.
Ahlstrom and RIley Cardinale both homered, with Ahlstrom driving in three.
Cole Schraufstetter had a pair of hits, including a double.
Oswego improved to 11-6/4-2 SUNYAC.
The Devils (8-6/1-2 SUNYAC) had their home game on Sunday vs. Pitt-Greensburg postponed until April 22.They are slated to head to Hilbert on Wednesday.
