OSWEGO, N.Y. --
Morgan Zientara spun a four hitter in leading the Fredonia State baseball team to a 5-3 win at Oswego on Thursday. Zientara issued one walk and struckout a pair.
Oswego took the lead with a run in the second and a run in the third innings.
The Devils finally solved starting pitcher Jon Hayner in the sixth inning when
Domenic Hickok ripped a two-run single to tie the game.
Fredonia State took its first lead, 3-2, when
Kyle Tedford singled in
Brady Ventura in the eighth. Tedford would finish with a pair of hits.
They tacked on needed insurance runs in the top of the ninth when
Vinny Grazioplene doubled and
Christian Cabrera singled in runs to make it a 5-2 game.
Oswego would get a leadoff hit in the bottom of the ninth that would eventually score, but Zientara finished strong for the win.
Fredonia State improved to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC. Oswego stands at 9-7 and 2-2 in the conference.
The same two teams are slated to play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at Noon.
