CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team could not find its rhythm in an 80-47 loss at Cortland on Tuesday evening.
Payton Gilbert led the Devils with 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Devils shot 16 percent from three-point range (4-25) while the Dragons hit 54 percent (14-26) from long distance. A stingy Red Dragon defense also held the Devils to 12 first-half points, accumulating a 30-12 lead at the midpoint.
Both teams picked up the offensive production in the second half, but the Dragons grew their margin of victory, outscoring Fredonia State, 50-35, in the frame.
Kayla Campbell led Cortland with 15 points, and Jackie Funk added 11.
Alexys Neckers added nine points off the bench for the Devils.
Fredonia State returns home this weekend, with conference games against Oswego and Canton on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
