BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team led by as many as 15 points in the first half, and despite a second-half Buffalo State rally, would hang on to complete the season sweep of the Bengals, winning 71-60 on Friday evening.
With the Devils leading by 10 points early in the fourth quarter, Buffalo State would go on a 9-1 run, making it a two-point game, 58-56, with 4:42 left to play. Fredonia State answered with the next eight points and eventually put the game away.
Mary Culeton led the Devils with 14 points and five assists, while pulling down nine rebounds.
Jayssa Snelick had 10 points and nine rebounds, and
Allie Wandell had eight points and a team-high 13 boards.
Ashley Tucker paced the Bengals (2-14/5-18 SUNYAC) with 24 points and seven rebounds.
The Devils kept their playoff hopes alive, improving to 5-11 in the conference, and 8-14 overall. They travel to Plattsburgh and Potsdam next weekend.
