POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Tied at two late in the third, the Potsdam Bears scored a pair of late goals to claim a 4-2 victory over the Fredonia State men's hockey team on Friday.
The teams skated to a scoreless first period as Fredonia State's
Charles-Anthony Barbeau and Potsdam's John Werber played flawlessly between the pipes.
The Devils finally broke through 9:40 into the second period when
Gavin Bloder scored on assists from
Nolan Ring and
Garrison Gagnon.
At the 14:41 mark, the Bears finally solved Barbeau and tied the game on a Max Klanow goal.
A power play goal by the Bears in the third put them up 2-1. Jakub Hall scored.
David Sudbrink would return the favor for the Devils, connecting on a power play of his own at the 10:56 mark.
The Bear's Owen Watson then scored the game winner with 2:37 left to play, and Drew Rose would add an empty netter shortly thereafter.
Barbeau and Werber both finished with 33 saves. Gagnon had two assists for Fredonia State.
Potsdam improves to 8-11-4 and 6-5-1 in the SUNYAC.
The Devils (7-16 / 5-7 SUNYAC) complete the North Country trip with a 7 p.m. game at Plattsburgh on Saturday evening.
