HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State offense took a little while to get started and resulted in a 92-61 loss at Houghton on Friday evening. The Devils scored 13 points over the first 12 minutes and found themselves in a 34-13 hole.
Christian Williams led the Devils with 15 points, and
Martin Garza added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds and three steals.
Stevie Williams also had 14 points.
Lou Bellamy led Houghton (2-5) with 22 points and nine rebounds. Jake Verschoyle had 14 points and dished out eight assists.
Houghton had its best shooting game of the year, hitting 57 percent from the field, 54 percent (14-26) from three-point land, and went 8-9 from the line as they led wire-to-wire.
The Devils shot 40 percent from the field, and were 2-15 on three pointers. They did outrebound the Highlanders 38-31.
The Devils (1-7) are off until next semester.
