POTSDAM, N.Y. --
Payton Gilbert and
Grace Alexander combined for 39 points as the Fredonia State women's basketball team claimed a 70-48 road win at Potsdam on Saturday. Gilbert led all scorers with 20 points and had seven steals, and Alexander poured in 19 as the Devils improved to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the SUNYAC.
Jayssa Snelick had 10 points and 10 rebounds, plus a team-high four assists.
Potsdam (2-5/1-1 SUNYAC) was led by DaeLynn Alcock with 12 points and Xyel Bradford had 11 off the bench.
The Devils jumped out to a 21-11 lead after the first quarter. By the half, the lead was extended to 21 points, with the Devils up 34-21.
The Devils dominated the boards, outrebounding the Bears 46-33. They hit on nine three pointers, five coming from Alexander. Potsdam was just 3-20 from beyond the arc.
The Devils have a non-conference contest at home vs. Houghton on Tuesday.
