PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team dropped its conference-opening contest, 61-51, at Plattsburgh on Friday evening.
Grace Alexander was the only player in double digits, with 11 points.
Jakiera Stackhouse led all players with 11 rebounds.
The early going was tight, with the Devils holding a 14-12 lead in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Plattsburgh would then go on a 9-0 run and keep the lead the rest of the game.
Their largest lead of 18 points came with four minutes left to play in the game. The Devils ended the night on an 11-3 run to cut it to a 10-point game.
Imani Walcott had 13 points for Plattsburgh (5-2/1-0 SUNYAC), and Jaden Wilson added 12.
Aliyah Hopkins had nine rebounds for the Blue Devils, and
Payton Gilbert snared four steals. The Devils shot 6-32 (19 percent) from three-point range and 7-17 (42 percent) from the line. Defensively, they did cause 17 turnovers and grabbed 47 boards.
Fredonia State falls to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the SUNYAC.
