FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Hobart men's hockey team, ranked No. 1 in Division III, extended its NCAA-record unbeaten streak to 40 games with a 5-0 win at Fredonia State on Saturday.
The Statesmen wasted no time, getting on the board twice in the first 2:03 of play. The received goals from Kahlil Fontana and Connor Elliot.
The Devil defense settled in and shut down the scoring the rest of the period. Goaltender
Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 15 saves in the first period.
In the second frame, Hobart used another quick strike 24 seconds in by Luke Aquaro. The teams would go scoreless the rest of the period with Hobart taking a 3-0 after two periods of play.
Hobart added two goals in the third period from Bauer Morrissey and Austin Mourar.
Barbeau finished the game with 48 saves for Fredonia State.
Hobart goaltender Mavrick Goyer stopped 18 shots for the Statesmen. They improve to 15-0 on the season.
The Devils (5-11) travel to Brockport on Tuesday for a non-conference contest.
