Brockport comes back for OT winner

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Brockport erased a two-goal deficit in the final minutes to post a 4-3 overtime victory over Fredonia State in non-conference men's hockey Friday night at Steele Hall.

Kaleb Miller scored the game-winner with 1:37 left in the extra session after goals by Schuyler Flansburg and Victor Malzahn erased a 3-1 Fredonia State lead in the final three minutes.

Malzahn also assisted on the game-winning goal. Flansburg's goal was his second of the game.

Fredonia State led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Gavin Bloder and Dillon Schmidt. Bloder was stationed near the right post when he deflected a crossing pass from David Sundbrook to open the scoring. Schmidt made it 2-0 when he raced down the left wing and put a snap shot behind Brockport goaltender Cole Hudson.

The teams traded goals in the second period. Flansburg pocketed a backhander behind Charles-Anthony Barbeau on a power-play to cut the margin to 2-1. Fredonia State retook a two-goal lead, 3-1, when Antoine St. Onge scored on his own rebound with 1:44 left in the middle session.

The victory lifted the Golden Eagles at 2-7-2 while the Blue Devils fell to 6-8-0 heading into a home game Saturday at 7 p.m. against Geneseo. Both Friday's and Saturday's games are non-conference affairs now that Brockport and Geneseo have left the SUNYAC for the Empire 8.
