FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's soccer team kicked off SUNYAC play hosting Plattsburgh State. The Cardinals won a tightly contested game 1-0 over the Devils. Â
Plattsburgh State forward Jessica Mare scored the lone goal of the game for the Cardinals in the 42nd minute of the first half getting her foot on a lose ball in front of the net. The Devils had a a few good looks at the net with six shots on goal but ultimately could not connect on one.Â

Abby Szymkowiak registering five saves in the loss for the Devils. Â
Fredonia State now drops to 4-4 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. The Devils look to get back on track next Saturday when they travel to Canton in another SUNYAC contest scheduled for 1:00 p.m.Â
