FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team rallied late in the second quarter to take a 7-6 lead before falling to Buffalo State on Wednesday night, 13-11.
Noelle Mendez and
Victoria Burget each finished with a hat trick scoring three goals each.
Buffalo State scored seven unanswered goals to start the second half with Vanessa Willick netting three straight goals and held the Devils scoreless throughout the third quater. Mendez ended the run and started a Fredonia State stretch of four consecutive goals, making it 13-11 with just over five minutes to play.
The Devils comeback unfortunately fell short as the Bengals would milk the clock and maintain a two goal lead and eventually win the game.
Audrey Brown finished with a game-high six draw controls while Burget,
Camryn Jacobs and
Sydney Buchko each caused one turnover. Buchko also added a game high five ground balls as well.
Goalie
Ashleigh Manns recorded seven saves in the loss.
Fredonia State drops to 4-6 on the season and 0-4 in SUNYAC play. The Devils are back home on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game vs. New Paltz.
