MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -- Trailing 6-5 midway through the second quarter, the Fredonia State women's lacrosse team exploded for four-straight goals, and nine of the next 11 scores to take control in a 16-11 win at Morrisville on Saturday. The win improved the Devils to 3-1 on the season.
Emma Cockerel and
Leah Kunisch both scored four times and
Ashleigh Manns earned her third win of the season with 11 saves in goal.
The Devils took a 3-1 lead early in the first quarter on goals by
Cailin Karalus,
Audrey Brown and
Camryn Jacobs. Morrisville's Alana McDonald scored the next two to tie the game at 3-all. McDonald score the team's first three goals and would finish with seven scores on the day.
Down 6-5, the Devils scored four times over a four-minute stretch late in the second, and would lead 9-6 at the half.
The Devils outscored Morrisville 4-2 in the third to take a 13-8 lead. Both teams would score three times in the fourth to give the 16-11 final.
Morrisville falls to 0-3.
The Devils will be back home on Tuesday with a 4:30 game vs. Grove City at University Stadium.
